I have been watching a pair of bald eagles raise their babies. The female laid three eggs, all three hatched, and all three seem to be doing well. Today was the day that the babies were going to get banded. It was very exciting to see them climb the tree and take the babies out of the nest. The man who climbed the tree actually was raised up 75 feet by a bucket truck and then had to climb the rest of the way up to about 90 feet. He then took a photo of the babies.
Here is the photo. Don't the babies look confused, like, "Who are you and what did you do with my Mommy??"
The only thing that bothered me a bit was, after they banded the babies, they took them over to the crowd that had gathered so the people could see them up close. Then, they allowed several people to touch the babies. I don't think they should have done that. These are wild animals that have just been taken off the endagered species list. They don't need to be exposed to all the human germs, etc.
